Our Investment Philosophy
The basis of our investment work is management based on both fundamental and systematic analysis. We offer niche, actively managed products with unique opportunities for long-term value creation. Our passively managed products are based on systematic analysis which, thanks to economies of scale, can be particularly competitive from a price perspective. All our funds follow Swedbank Robur’s responsible investment policy.
Our actively managed funds aim to outperform their benchmarks over the long term. One example is our actively managed equity funds, which are based on fundamental and qualitative analysis with a focus on company selection. The managers use industry, business model, ownership, governance and financial analysis as important elements of the strategy. They actively select companies that are considered to be attractively valued in relation to the company’s view of future earnings potential.
The passively managed funds are based on quantitative analysis based on long-term relationships and evidence-based models. With a systematic approach, we strive for positive and repetitive results using factors that can be justified in a logical reasoning. An example is index-linked funds with the aim of replicating the performance of their benchmark index as closely as possible. Thanks to the systematic management, these can be offered at a very competitive price.
Teamwork increases continuity
The administration works in teams but under individual responsibility. In this way, we can learn from each other and create continuity while each manager takes responsibility for their mandate to create the highest possible return at reasonable risk. A strong in-house analysis combined with collaboration with external analysts and industry specialists provides a unique and broad decision-making basis. We currently have over 60 managers and specialists working with analysis. The analyses are tailored to meet set objectives for management and investments in each area.
Sustainability trends affect the world in which companies operate and thus also our investments. We analyse sustainability trends to capture investment opportunities and create long-term competitive returns and to reduce sustainability-related risks in the funds. We are active owners of the companies we invest in, and corporate governance is an important part of our investment process. We vote at more than 400 general meetings in 25 different markets and sit in more than 90 nomination committees each year. As a major shareholder in several Swedish listed companies, we have a significant responsibility and we place high demands on the companies in which we invest.
